Preparing for Your Wedding
If you’ve just recently gotten engaged, the obvious next step now would be to prepare for the wedding itself. This means getting everything ready for the big day in the way that you both wish – and while it can seem quite a daunting task, there’s no need to panic – you just need to sensibly compose a list of things that need to be done.
One of the very first things you will need to do is look at wedding venues; Glasgow is an ideal place for this as not only is it a central location but it also offers beautiful scenery that is perfect for wedding photos.
However, this isn’t the only thing you will need to do, so we’ve created this checklist to assist you in preparing for your special day:
FIRST THING'S FIRST...
There are a fair few big tasks that you will need to carry out to begin with; each one incredibly important and will go a long way towards determining other important tasks later on.
The first assignment you need to tackle is writing a guest list of all the people that you want to share your special day with. Once you’ve worked out how many people you want at your wedding you should now be able to figure out your budget – if the total cost seems unreachable then you may need to look at creating a shorter guest list or looking at what you can cut out to ensure that everyone you love is there for your wedding day.
The next task is to find the perfect venue; it will need to be spacious enough to fit all of your guests in as well as having the right setting that you desire for your day. You may need to look at tons of wedding venues but when you find ‘the one’ you will just know. Wedding venues in Glasgow are becoming extremely popular as the wonderful scenery really compliments and sets the ultimate romantic scene for weddings – not to mention travel convenience for most guests, due to its central location. Wherever you decide to get married, just remember, it needs to be somewhere that’s easily accessible for all of your guests.
GETTING CLOSER TO THE DAY...
With all the bigger tasks out of the way, you can now relax for a while before deciding on the next steps. You need to decide on the menu and décor (which should be done relatively soon after finding the venue as it could take some time to find the right caterers) – unless the venue conveniently supplies the food and is perfectly decorated, that is! Once you’ve checked this task off your list it’s finally time to send out the invites – but before you do – just make sure that you’ve made it clear whether your guests can bring a plus one or not as you will need to account for this in your overall numbers.
You will then need to choose your bridesmaids/best men. Once you have decided these, you can delegate some tasks to them to alleviate some of the stress from you. They will be able to help with a myriad of tasks – from helping to choose the flowers, cake and music to selecting the bridesmaids and best men’s outfits. Following this, you will need to find the right photographer for the wedding day and perhaps even a videographer – if you’re having one.
After all of this, you will need to start looking for the dream dress/the ideal suit. It’s far better to get these at least a few months before the wedding day to ensure that any alterations can be done in good time. After this, you are free to pick the perfect wedding rings so that they, too, can undergo any necessary alterations in time for the big day.
JUST BEFORE THE DAY...
There are a few things that you will need to do just before the big day, such as pick up the dresses and suits as well as pick up the wedding rings, but you can delegate these tasks to someone in the wedding party to save you time. You will also need to look at hair and makeup trials but think about leaving this a month or so before the wedding in case you change your mind before the big day? On the other hand, you want to ensure you secure a booking, so see if you can reserve a provisional slot with your chosen artist in advance.
Once everything is picked up and sorted, you just need to call all of your appointed vendors to ensure that they know exactly what it is they are doing and at what time. They probably will, but it’s best to check just in case there’s any confusion or miscommunication. Once everything is arranged, picked up and organised you can sit back and just wait for your special dream day to arrive.
If you follow this or make your very own checklist it could go a long way in helping to decrease your stress and anxiety levels before your big day; leaving you to enjoy your special event – just as you’re supposed to. But just remember, your big day will come and go far quicker than you think, so savour each and every moment!
